Century College, Prosthetic Practitioner
Amercan Board of Certification (ABC),1999
My entry into prosthetics started while returning to college due to a lower back injury. While at Augustana College, I was able to find my new vocation. This matched the use of hand skills, health care industry and interpersonal relationships, which I desired. I continued my education at Century College and followed with my residency with Orthotic & Prosthetic Specialties, Inc.
Twenty years later, I find I am grateful I found a health care profession utilizing the ever changing world of Prosthetic technology. I am blessed that I have been able to form relationships with patients though their lifetime of prosthetic needs.

I was raised on a farm in eastern Nebraska. Those values of hard work and sense of pride in accomplishment ring true in my work today. "Don't do it if you don't do your best", my Dad would say. I became interested in prosthetics early in life by spending time with my neighbor. He was an upper extremity amputee. I remember watching him using his prostheses as if it were an extension of his own arm. He could handle any object with grace and power. I grew up loving to help people. I can think of no better way to truly help someone than by replacing what has been lost. I like to think there is a small part of me in every limb I build.
My goal is to keep my patient's amputation their business. Ultimately they should have to tell you they are an amputee.
My job is to design, provide, and correctly fit the device that is necessary get the patient back to the same level of function they enjoyed before amputation.
My responsibility is to listen and answer questions and concerns the patient and their caregivers may have.

BS from South Dakota State University 1980
Post Secondary Orthotic Practitioner Program at Century College, White Bear Lake, MN 1988
American Board for Certification in Orthotics and Prosthetics, December 1990.
My introduction to Orthotics began when I was young. My parents owned a Shoe Repair in Sioux Falls. As there was no Orthotic or Prosthetic company in town at that time we often modified shoes, made arch supports and repaired orthoses (braces). My understanding of how braces work and my hand skills in fabrication and repair of orthoses begin then.
The best part of my career is working with people and knowing that I can assist them to make their daily tasks easier, reduce their pain, or help their bodies to heal. I specialize in Orthotic treatment of Scoliosis. This is especially enjoyable because I work with younger people over a period of one to three years and can get to know them a little bit better. I am still amazed at how well they take on the challenge of wearing a brace.

Kelsey earned her undergraduate degree in kinesiology from Westmont College in Southern California where she was raised, and her Masters in Prosthetics and Orthotics from the University of Washington in Seattle. After her residencies in Iowa and Maryland, she was certified in orthotics and prosthetics in 2017. She joined the team at O&P Specialties in 2018, after deciding to return to the Midwest to be closer to her extended family. Her primary interests are lower extremity orthotics, gait analysis, and scoliosis. Kelsey most enjoys being a part of a patient's journey towards walking again, and the field of prosthetics and orthotics has been a perfect avenue for her to help people in this way.

Lynne joined the O&P Specialties team in February 2019 after relocating to Sioux Falls. She graduated from the University of Texas Southwestern Medical Center in Dallas in 2009 with her BS in Prosthetics & Orthotics. Lynne completed both her prosthetic and orthotic residencies in Kalamazoo, MI, and became fully certified in 2011. Since then, she has had the opportunity to practice in multiple states throughout the midwest. Lynne thoroughly enjoys seeing her patients return to their daily activities they were involved in prior to their accident, amputation, or other illness. Making a tangible difference in the quality of people's lives is the most rewarding experience in this profession.
